Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookies

I am trying to find new fun ways to use my sourdough discard, these cookies are amazing!

Ingredients

  • 113 g Unsalted Butter (1 Stick) Lightly Browned
  • 140 g Granulated Sugar
  • 160 g Brown Sugar
  • 85 g Room Temperature Sourdough Discard
  • 1 Large/Extra Large Egg
  • 1/2 tsb Vanilla
  • 240 g All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 3/4 tsp Salt
  • 12 oz Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  1. Lightly brown your butter, (in my opinion, browning too much creates too strong of a flavor).
  2. Stir butter, sugar, and brown sugar.
  3. Add discard, vanilla, and the egg.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Add half of the dry mixuture into the wet, lightly incorporate, then add the rest.
  6. Add chocolate chips, and mix until combined.
  7. Let dough sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven 375, and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  9. Shape dough into 24-30 balls. (Around 2 tbsp each.)
  10. Bake for 12-13 minutes, they will finish baking out of the oven after you take them out.

Notes

  • Add flaky sea salt after baking!
  • I like semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips, milk is too much for me.
